さまざまな条件で上映されにくい映画にもいいものはたくさんあり、そんな映画を紹介することがミニシアターの役割かもしれません。同じお金を払って観るなら膨大な予算をかけたハリウッド映画を観た方が得か、というとそんなことはないですよね。だからうちは観客動員数じゃなく、満足度で一番になりたいんです。

映画そのものに関しては「映画からブームが生まれなくなった」と感じます。昔は映画から始まる流行やムーブメントがあったように思いますが、今は反対に映画がブームの後追いをしているんじゃないでしょうか。

動員が見込めそうな原作や、おおげさなSFXなんかなくても、人間の幸福や感情の大切さがあふれているようなもの。僕はそういう映画を丁寧にさがして、上映していきたいですね。
